Portable Torah Ark

Carved Torah Ark depicting the 12 Tribes of Israel

Commissioned by a private individual for his son's Bar-Mitzvah and later donated to the synagogue in Los Angelas, this Aron Kodesh features handcarving and inlayed glassrepresenting the 12 Tribes of Israel. The Ark is built completely of solid African Walnut (including the handles) with Dovetail joinery. Inlayed Brusso hidden solid brass hinges and includes handmade glass knobs. Can be placed on any table, anywhere Poles slide into 2 strongly mounted rings and carried by two people with ease, as was the process for the mishkan in the desert. The Torah Ark is crowned with a mounted glass Ner Tamid using a mould technique, allowing the glass to take form of the empty space in the carved frame. Ner is mounted with hinges and supported by bolted mounting to flip up when in use and flip down for portability.
