Built in 10 Commandments Aron Kodesh

This built-in Aron Kodesh was designed in cooperation between Custom Carving, Tulane Hillel House, and Shoshana Gugenheim. All carving was done by artist Gabriel Bass in deep relief using traditional curved blade knives, which leave a unique texture that draws the eye and hand to the work. The doors depict the first ten letters of the Hebrew aleph-bet as being the first utterances of creation and symbolically representing the 10 commandments. It was installed with little effort into the niche almost 2 meters tall by 2 meters wide by 50 cm deep at the New Tulane Hillel House Building in New Orleanes. Made from African Walnut, including the handles, with panel doors and frame work made with deep double mortise and tennon joints designed specifically for these extraordinarily large doors.

Dimensions 200cm W x 200cm H x 54cm D
