Choice and proper installation of hardware is crucial for insuring a cohesive appearance and smooth functionality of a furnishing. This intricacy is often overlooked today because of the price well made hardware and the time it takes for mortised installation. I have found these cost and time to be nominal in exchange for years of function that it adds to the pleasure of using the furnishing.
Installing Solid Brass Scissor Hinge

Custom Carving chooses only solid brass hinges. Our favorites are the modest straight and L solid brass scissor hinges made by Brusso. These are the highest quality scissor hinges, that are inlayed into the carcass of the box before it is joined. The success of this hinge relies on a perfect installation and spacing between the top and bottom of the doors. Additionally, we offer and use Brass plated Soss invisible mortise hinges, standard solid brass door hinges, and solid brass door catches.
Handmade Hardware
When we cannot find a suitable solution for a hardware need, we either have it made or build it custom. This allows us to create exactly the movement that the furniture demands. Our dovetail table slides will last longer than its metal competition and makes all the difference in appearance and feel of a handmade furnishing over time. Our sliding doors are the perfect fit with built-in handmade solid wood slides and the option to inlay wheels beneath to assist in smooth sliding for larger doors. We have made a few featured folding tables completely from wood, including their the hinges and hardware.
